Shorewalkers , will host a 9 mile, moderately paced walk, up the HTS trail in Sloatsburg, NY.  The walkers will meet at the Port Authority  bus terminal, before 8:00AM and will depart by Shortline bus, at 8:30AM to Sloatsburg, NY.  The Port Authority meeting place will be at the south wing, 40th Street and 8th Avenue, ( at the commuter statues) Manhattan, NY.  Bring lunch and water.  There will be blueberry stops and lunch at the Russian Bear.  Return transportation will be by train.  The walk is listed as Free, however, transportation and other possible expenses should be taken into account.  Click on the above link, for further information.


Join Hand And Hand-Remebering 9-11, today at 8:46AM, in Battery Park, as thousands of people join hands to form a human chain, along the waterfront in commemoration of the September 11th attacks.  Participation in the event is Free but participants must register online.  Click on the above link to register.  The event is listed as taking place at the Battery Park City Esplanade.  However, participants will be given a check in station to report to, after registering.  For a map and directions to Battery Park City Esplanade, Click On This Link.


Join Shorewalkers on an 8 mile, moderately paced walk along museums and cultural institutions, on the east side of Manhattan.  The event is listed as Free on the Shorewalkers website but they sometimes charge a nominal fee for walks.  The walk meets at the Prometheus statue, at Rockefeller Center (south side).  Rockefeller Center, is located at 49th Street and 5th Avenue, Manhattan, NY.


The Woodside On The Move,  9/11 mural dedication, will take place today at 11:00AM, , at 61st Street and Roosevelt Avenue, in Woodside, (Queens) NY.  The mural commemorates the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 tragedy and honors those who were lost.  The mural dedication will be followed by a street fair, from 12:00PM-6:00PM, on Woodside and Roosevelt Avenues, between 59th to 64th Streets, Woodside NY.  The fair will feature hundreds of vendors, live music and entertainment, food, unique and nostalgic merchandise, and children's rides and games.  Both the mural dedication and the street fair are Free events.


Come to the 17th Annual Garden Celebration, At Santos White Community Garden, today from 12:00PM-7:00PM.  Enjoy live music, by Santos and the Romantics 4 and taste great food, prepared by the Santos White gardeners.  Admission to the event is by donation.  Bring either a tray of food/ beverages (case of soda or water for ex) or cash donation.  Santos White Garden, is located at Mermaid Avenue, between west 21st and West 22nd Streets, Brooklyn, NY.


Tour Reeds Basket Willow Woodlands And Stream in Dongan Hills today, from 12:00PM-2:00PM. The Back To School Festival, at Little Bay Park, will be held today from, 12:00PM-3:00PM.  Come out to the park for a day of games, rides, craft projects and giveaways.  This is a Free event.  Little Bay Park is located at Cross Island Parkway, between Utopia Parkway and Totten Avenue, Queens, NY.

Enjoy a performance of,  More Or Less I Am, by the Compagnia de Colombari  Theater Company, today at 2:00PM, at the Brooklyn Historical Society.  More Or Less I Am, is a music theater piece, based on the Walt Whitman poem, Song Of Myself.  The performance is directed by Karin Coonrod and contains original music by Colin Jacobson, Kyle Sanna and Eric Jacobson. It consists of spoken word, dance and music.  The performance is  Free with museum admission, which is $6.00 for Adults and $4.00 for Students, Teachers and Seniors.  Children under 12 are Free. The performance will be followed by a reception, with light refreshments.  The Brooklyn Historical Society is located at, 128 Pierrepont Street, (at Clinton Street) Brooklyn, NY.


The Western Queens Green Resources Fair will be held today, from 2:00PM-5:00PM, at the Broadway Library in Queens.  The festival will be held outdoors and will include exhibitors from over two dozen local green organizations.  There will be games, Eco-Crafts, giveaways and more.  The event is Free and should be fun and educational for the whole family.  The Queens library at Broadway is located at, 40-20 Broadway, Long Island City, NY.


9/11 Remembrance Concert, will be held, today at 3:00PM, at the Church Of St Paul The Apostle, located at Columbus Avenue and West 60th Street, Manhattan, NY.  The performance by the New York City Master Chorale and the Empire City Men's Chorus is Free.


Come to the Flashlight Walking Tour , tonight at 7:00PM, at Green-wood Cemetery.  Explore the tombstones and catacombs with Green-Wood historian, Jeff Richman.  This event is not cheap, but sounds like it might be enough fun to splurge.  Tickets are $20.00 or $10.00 for members.  Green-wood Cemetery, is located at 500 25th Street, Brooklyn, NY.


The New York Philharmonic, will perform at the Concert For New York-In Remebrance And Renewal, tonight at 7:30PM, at Lincoln Center. The concert is Free.  Tickets will be distributed on a first come first serve basis, at 4:00PM today.  The tickets will be distributed on the Josie Robertson Plaza, at Lincoln Center.  The performance, of Mahler's symphony No. 2, Resurrection, will also be projected live, onto Lincoln Center's Plaza.  There will be additional seating on the Plaza for the live projection of the concert.  The concert will be webcast at 9:00PM, on 9/11/11.  It will be broadcast live on 105.9 (WQXR).  In addition, it will be broadcast on WNYC 93.9FM on 9/11/11 at 8:00PM, and telecast on PBS (Great Performances) at 9:00PM on 9/11/11.  The concert will take place in Avery Fisher Hall, at Lincoln Center, at Broadway and West 65th Street, Manhattan, NY
