Nathan's Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest takes place 7/4/11 at 12:00 Noon outside of Nathan's located at 1310 Surf Avenue, Brooklyn, NY. There will be 20 contestants for the championship of hot dog eating.
The cooper- Hewitt national Design Museum located at 2 East 91st Street in Manhattan is offering Free Admission on 7/4/11.
The Louis Armstrong House Museum located at 34-56 107th Street, Corona, NY is having a Fourth Of July Birthday Party- 12:00 Noon-5:00PM. Special 2 for 1 Admission includes Jazz Concert in the Garden at 1:00PM and Complimentary Birthday Cake.
The NJMS Summer Music Festival will host "jazz In The Park" on 7/4/11 from 3:00PM-7:00PM in Jackie Robinson Park located at 147th Street and Bradhurst Avenue in Manhattan. The lineup includes The Jonathan Batiste Band, Jerome Bell with Michael T's Electric, The Bailen Brothers, Damien Sneed, and the Tres Amigos. this event is Free.
The Great 4th Of JUlY Festival will begin at 12:00 Noon and takes place on Water Street between Fulton Street and Broad Street, in Manhattan.

Celebrate Independence Day Like Its 1865 at Old Bethpage Village Restoration, at 1303 Round Swamp Road Old Bethpage, NY. A recreation of a July 4th celebration during the civil war era. there will be concerts, picnics ( bring your own picnic lunch), Children's games, musket firing and a patriotic parade and ceremony. The hours of this event are from 11:00PM-4:00PM on 7/4/11.
Sagamore Hill Celebrates Independence Day with President Theodore Roosevelt as portrayed by James Foote. Activities include games, crafts, music, equestrian demonstrations, guided nature walks around the grounds and beaches of Sagamore Hills. The first floor of the Roosevelt home will be open to all visitors for Free from 10:00AM-4:00PM. Food will be available for purchase. AT 2:00PM, there will be a performance by the Sagamore Hill Band. seating will be on the front lawn. Bring blankets or chairs. Fonthill's old Fashioned 4th Of July Celebration features a number of activities, including the children's decorated bike parade, games , music, entertainment and food. Macys Fourth Of July Fireworks display can be viewed from any place with an unobstructed view of the sky over the Hudson River. Best views are below 59th Street at 12th Avenue. The Staten Island Yankees vs The Brooklyn Cyclones at The Richmond County Ballpark at 75 Richmond Terrace, Staten Island, NY. The game starts at 7:00PM. There will be Fireworks following the game.

Rye Playland located at 1 Playland Parkway in Rye NY will host Fireworks displays on both 7/3/11 and 7/4/1. Fireworks begin at 9:30 PM.

Seaside Heights Fourth Of July Fireworks Extravaganza on 7/4/11 at 9:30PM. Fireworks are visible from anywhere on the boardwalk of seaside heights.
Ocean City New Jersey July 4th Celebration has two different bike parades on 7/4/11, one starting at 9:00PM and the other starting at 10:00PM. There is a kite flying competition starting at 5:00PM followed by entertainment. The Fireworks are scheduled to begin at approximately 9:00PM and is choreographed to music. The display can be seen and heard the entire length of the walk at 9th Street Beach.
