Bring the family out for the day to the hong Kong Dragon Boat Festival, today and tomorrow from 9:00PM-5:00PM, in Flushing Meadows Park.  There will be a full day of activities, (both on 8/13/11 and 8/14/11) including musical entertainment, martial arts, Etc.  In addition there are over 100 teams and 1,000 participants in the Dragon Boat Races that will take place on Meadow lake.  The event is Free, except of course for any food or merchandise you may wish to Purchase.  Click on the above link, for directions to this event at Flushing Meadows park in Queens, NY.


Governors Island is hosting, The New York Volkswagen Traffic Jam, today from 10:00AM-4:00PM.  This is one traffic jam you won't mind being stuck in.  Enjoy a spectator judged, vintage volkswagen car show, as well as musical entertainment, raffles, children's activities, food, merchandise, Etc.  Have a picnic on the lawn of Picnic Point.  You can bring your own items or purchase food at the event.  The event is Free, except for whatever you choose to purchase.  It should be a fun filled day.  For directions on getting to this event on Governors island, Click the above link.


The Back To The Beach Celebration will take place today from 12:00PM-9:00PM, at Midland Beach in Staten Island. Throughout the day, there will be food, games, music Etc, and of course the beautiful beach itself.  The evening will culminate with fireworks at 9:00PM.  The event is Free except for anything you choose to purchase.  Midland Beach is located at 1100 Father Capodanno 
boulevard, Staten Island, NY.


Take an Electric Boat Tour, on the lake at Prospect park.  The Independence, launches from the boathouse at the Audubon Center, Thursday to Sunday & Holidays from 12:30PM-5:00PM.  The tour  is only $8.00 for Adults, $4.00 for children ages 4-12, and free for children 3 and under.  The Audubon Center at the boathouse, is located inside the Lincoln Road/Ocean Avenue entrance to the Park, Brooklyn, NY.


The New York Public Library For The Performing Arts,  will host a Free 90th Anniversary Film Screeningof the 1921 silent classic, The Three Musketeers.  The film screening will take place at 2:30PM, at the Dorothy And Lewis B Cullman Center, Bruno Walter Auditorium, 40 Lincoln Center Plaza, Manhattan, NY.


The New York Yankees Vs The Tampa Bay Rays, today at 4:10PM, at Yankee Stadium, located at East 161st Street and River Avenue, Bronx, NY.  A Thumbs up will be Presented to the first 18,000 Guests 14 and younger.  Ticket Prices Vary.


The Staten Island Yankees Vs The Auburn Doubledays, tonight at 7:00PM, at Richmond County Bank Ballpark, located  at 75 Richmond terrace, Staten Island, NY.  There will be fireworks after the game.  Tonight is also Wendy's Friends & Family Night.  Receive 4 Staten Island Yankees Tickets, 4 Staten Island Yankees Hats and 4 Vouchers for Wendy's Single Cheese or Chicken Combo Meals for only $36.00. ($9.00 a person) 


The RCTA Sunset Concert Series continues, tonight at 7:00PM with the Gilad Bloom Band.  The bands' musical style is described as a mix of electric blues, folk & rock and Israeli- Reggae.  The Concert is Free and takes place on the lawn overlooking the Hudson River at 97th Street ( north of the 96th Street, clay tennis courts) Manhattan, NY.


Summerstage Presents an evening of dance featuring The  Cecilia Marta Dance company and Francine E Ott, tonight, at Marcus Garvey Park.  There will be a master class with Camille A Brown, at 7:00PM.  The Performance will begin at 8:00PM.  This is a Free event.  Marcus Garvey Park is located at Madison Avenue, between East 120th and East 124th Streets, manhattan, NY.


Parks' Outdoor Summer Movies  Presents the film, Spiderman, tonight at 8:15PM, at Bloomingdale Park in Staten Island.  This is a Free event.  Bring chairs or blankets.  Bloomingdale Park is located at Richmond parkway and Lenevar Avenue, Staten Island, NY.
