Morning Matinee at Riverside library, Presents the film, American Splendor, starring Paul Giamatti and Hope Davis, today at 11:00AM.  click on the above link for a description of the film.  This is a Free event.  The Riverside library is located at 127 Amsterdam Avenue, (at West 65th Street) Manhattan, NY.




The Museum Of Folk Art, offers Free Admission, today and Every Day, during regular hours of operation.  Currently, the 9/11 National Tribute Quilt is on display.  A grid system allows the name of each 9/11 victim to be located on the quilt.  There is an accompanying book, providing the location of each victim's name.    In addition, today there will be Free live music at the museum, performed by Jazz Guitarist, Bill Wurtzel, from 2:00PM-3:00PM.  The museum is open Tuesday-Saturday - Noon-7:30PM & Sunday Noon- 6:00PM.  It is Closed Mondays.  


For a fairly low cost museum to visit, try the Brooklyn Historical Society, located at 128 Pierrepont Street, ( at clinton Street) Brooklyn, NY.  Admission is only $6.00 for Adults, $4.00 for Seniors, $4.00 for Students 12 and over and Free for Children under 12.  Admission for teachers is $4.00.  There are some interesting exhibits currently on display. For example, Home Base: Memories of the Brooklyn Dodgers at Ebbets Field and another exhibit called Inventing Brooklyn: People Places and Progress.  Tonight at 7:00PM, there will be a book reading, by author, Brooke Hauser, from her book, New Kids:  Big Dreams And Brave Journeys At A High School For Immigrant Teens.  There will also be a Q&A with the author.  The Brooklyn Historical Society is open from Wednesday to Friday 12:00PM-5:00PM, Saturday- 10:00PM-5:00PM and Sunday 12:00PM-5:00PM.  The museum is Closed on Mondays.


The Mott Haven Library will host, Game On @ Mott Haven, today at 4:00PM.  Compete against others, playing your favorite Wi Games.  This is a Free event.  The Mott Haven Library is located at 321 East 140th Street, (at Alexander Avenue) Bronx, NY.


Historic Richmond Town, will be hosting Family Cruise Nites: Classic Car Showcase, tonight from 5:30PM-8:30PM.  Classic cars will be on display from the golden age of the American automobile.  Admission is Free.  Historic richmond Town is located at 441 Clarke Avenue, Staten Island, NY.

The Wave Hill Garden And Cultural Center is offering Free Admission, today and Every Tuesday, during regular hours of operation.  Admission is usually $8.00 for Adults, $4.00 for students and seniors and $2.00 age 6 and up.   The museum is open Tuesday-Sunday from 9:00AM -5:30PM.  The Garden at Wave Hill overlooks the Hudson River and Palisades in the Bronx and is one of the most beautiful spots in NYC.  The Wave Hill Garden And cultural Center is located at West 249th Street and Independence Avenue, Manhattan, NY

The Queens Public Library Presents The Golden Age of Radio And Television, today at 1:30PM, at the Bay Terrace Library.  Media Specialist Richard Knox will lead this Free event, which will examine a variety of popular television and radio shows and personalities from 1935-1965.  Audio and Video Clips will be used to relive and discuss, Classic comedy and variety shows, newscasters and game show hosts, television and radio theme songs, commercials for products that no longer exist and famous mystery and Western Programs. It is Closed on Wednesdays. Harlem Library will host En Foco/Exhibitions: The El Salvador Series, Photographed by Dee Campos, today from 11:00AM-6:00PM, at  the library, located at 9 West 124th Street, Manhattan, NY.  This is a very moving exhibit of photographs, taken of children living in the El Hogar del Nino orphanage, in El Salvador.  The exhibit is Free and continues Mondays through Saturdays until 9/5/11.  The hours that the exhibit can be viewed at the library are as follows.  Mondays and Wednesdays- 11:00AM-6:00PM, Tuesdays and Thursdays 12:00PM-7:00PM and Friday and Saturdays 10:00AM-5:00PM.
